Ny studie: Barn som gamer har bedre husk - VG

November 2022

The American researchers analyzed images of the brains of nearly 2,000 nine- and ten-year-olds and compared them with cognitive tests of the children with tasks that focused on memory and impulse control.

The children who usually played for more than three hours were faster and more precise in all the cognitive tasks they were given than the children who never played. Brain activity in the front part of the brain was also higher in those who played a lot.

Nine out of ten children and young people are gamers, according to the Norwegian Media Authority. In the past, people have mostly been concerned with investigating negative factors linked to gaming, such as aggression, gaming addiction and psychological difficulties. There is a need for a more balanced perspective.
